Just finished these AF1 mids and got them out to their owner tonight. Outer sides are the classic and current Blue Jays logos and the inside is the batting practice logo maple leaf as well as the Toronto skyline. I used the old school font for the Toronto Blue Jays on the front straps.
Barry, if you get seats behind home plate make sure to rest your feet up on the backstop!
Custom pair of Raptors kicks I made from a pair of Nike Blazers in the black, red and silver. Added the new We The North slogan during the crazy playoff series against Brooklyn and finished them right before that heartbreaking missed layup. The logos are the claw and the maple leaf featured on the back of the Raptors jerseys.
Size 11.5 and for sale (contact for information).
Here we have a pair of Billy Joel shoes commissioned by an old friend from camp who really wanted to give a huge Billy Joel fan something special for his birthday.
The right shoe features the cover for the album Glass Houses from 1980 and the left shoe features the album The Stranger from 1977. This is the second pair of Converse that I’ve worked on and I have to say it went pretty well. I’m definitely thinking about working on more canvas sneakers in the future!
(these photos were taken on an iPhone because I was rushing to gt the gift finished. Hopefully I’ll be able to take some pictures with a better camera soon!)
Recently an old friend from university contacted me and asked me to make him a pair of Lord of the Rings shoes for his wife. My first thought was that his wife was incredibly cool. My second thought was that I didn’t know if I could do something as detailed as he was requesting. He gave me a selection of the scenes he wanted on the shoes (warning, this is about to get very nerdy for any non-LOTR fans):
Gandalf vs. The Balrog
Mordor (the dark tower as well as Mt. Doom)
The fall of Isengard
Dan found a nice pair of leather Chuck Taylors in his wife’s size and I went to work. I cut off the rubber patch on the sides for a smoother surface. I also suggested painting the back panels in gold and writing the inscription from the One ring ” One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them” in the original Black Speech. Dan also wanted an image of the ring on the tongue with the quote in English so obviously I did that as well.
These were a Christmas gift to his wife and apparently she enjoyed them greatly. Hopefully she wears them with nerd pride wherever she goes!
These were a pair of shoes I created for a Jays Care charity auction in September. I incorporated the new Blue Jays logo as well as the Maple Leaf logo from the batting practice/Canada Day hats. People enjoyed the look of the shoes and they ended up being sold in the auction so I was pretty happy in the end.
These custom Nike Air Force 1’s were purchased at the annual MLSE (Maple Leafs Sports Entertainment) Gala where my work was lucky enough to be featured amongst many other incredible pieces of memorabilia. The proceeds went to the Team Up Foundation for Kids (which is awesome) and, luckily, the winner of the auction wanted a pair of Raptors shoes (and not some horrible rival like the Canadiens, Celtics or Bruins).
I really don’t know what I’m going to do when someone asks me to paint a pair of Boston shoes…
